OUR STORY
The story of Sanobar began long before its doors opened on Bussorah Street. It started in Tripoli, Lebanon, where a young Chef Nabil Baroudi ran a humble takeaway shop in 2002. His love for authentic Lebanese flavours and his dream to share them with the world would soon take him on a remarkable journey.
In 2003, he joined the Lebanese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur as a chef, where he refined his craft and learned to bring people together through food. A visit to Singapore shortly after changed everything when he fell in love with the city’s culture, energy, and diversity.
By 2005, he had made Singapore his new home, determined to build something of his own.
From there, Chef Nabil’s story became one of dedication and steady growth:
-
2006–2008: Opened Ala El Din on Jalan Pinang — a small corner eatery known for its honest, home-style Lebanese cooking.
-
2008–2010: Worked as chef at Gulf Beach, Arab Street, deepening his connection to Singapore’s heritage district.
-
2010–2013: Opened Zein Café on Arab Street, gaining a loyal following for his authentic flavours and friendly hospitality.
-
2015–Present: Founded Sanobar Grill, now at 29 Bussorah Street, where he continues to serve authentic Lebanese and Turkish cuisine that has made him a household name among food lovers and visitors alike.
For nearly 20 years, Sanobar Grill has stood as a symbol of Mediterranean hospitality a place where food, warmth, and friendship come together. Featured by local publications and loved by regular guests.
